Robin Nance Metz

An artist, a disciple of Christ, a devoted elder and member of MPC, and an incredible human being who will forever be remembered at Montevallo Presbyterian Church as the namesake for the Robin Nance Metz Art Gallery at Montevallo Presbyterian Church.

Our beloved Robin Nance Metz passed peacefully from this Earth on September 23, 2022, with the love of her life, Ted Metz, by her side.

Robin planted the seed of the art gallery at MPC back in the spring of 2022, and the church saw it fitting to invite her to not only be our first artist to exhibit, but to name it the "Robin Nance Metz Gallery".  Her impressive energy to draw and paint through the last 2 1/2 years of living with pancreatic cancer was nothing short of inspiring.  Robin's heart for others was evident in the sold out chemo drawings postcard project that gifted low-income patients financial access to life-sustaining treatments.

Robin was a local painter and illustrator.

"My artwork is inspired by my life as a child of the mod '60s. The colors and patterns of clothes and advertising from my childhood weave their way into my drawings, paintings, and clay work."  Robin worked for many years as an illustrator of greeting cards, calendars, and promotional materials.

"My background as an illustrator and my childhood influences merged into what has become my current work. Many subjects are visited often in the artwork: cats, fish, suns and moons join turbaned women, along with my version of my daughters. These themes bring me joy, and it is my sincere hope that my works contribute to the happiness of others."

Robin was featured on the CBS-42 website in November of 2021. Click the link to read this article online.  An additional article, Remembering Robin Nance Metz, was featured  on the same site in October 2022.
