So...Why Montevallo Presbyterian Church?

Montevallo Presbyterian Church is a community of Christians who value the Bible as a foundation for our faith and a guide to our daily living.  Scripture informs our worship, preaching, and mission.  We take the Bible very seriously (though not always literally), reflecting thoughtfully on its message, stories, poetry, and parables, and offering various opportunities to read and study the scriptures together.  Additionally, the members of MPC are a people who:

  • Nurture the life-long journey of faith, welcoming questions, doubts, wonder, and wondering as a vital part of this quest.
  • Celebrate human diversity and unity that God gives us in Christ, affirming the beauty and dignity of LGBTQIA+ persons.
  • Embrace the care of God's creation as a core practice of the Christian faith.
  • Are renewed by the Spirit as we pray and work towards the dismantling of structural racism and the eradication of systemic poverty.

From the first time my son and I visited this church, I knew it was home.  From the warm greetings of the members of the church to the beautiful music, moving sermons, and messages of God's love, this church brings me closer to God through the people that come here, the services that they provide to their community and those in need, and through the love that they exhibit in their daily lives.  This church practices love, not hate, openness and acceptance, not exclusion, and I'm grateful to be a part of it.

This is a church of believers in Christ and in the most important commandment, to love one another. It is practiced here.
