The presbyterian home for children

More than 150-year-old ministry providing a faith-based safe haven for children and their caregivers.

MPC is a long-time supporter of the Presbyterian Home for Children. Located in Talladega, Alabama, the Home has provided services to children in need since 1868. Originally founded as an orphanage, today it provides a wider range of services for both at-risk and homeless children, along with their families:

  • Secure Dwellings is an on-campus ministry for homeless boys and girls and their female caregivers.

  • Transition to Adult Living is a ministry focused on helping young women ages 19-24 successfully transition to adulthood.

  • Moderate Residential Care is provided for children who live on the 88-acre campus near downtown Talladega, most of whom are referred by the State of Alabama through the Department of Human Resources (DHR) for extreme abuse and neglect.

  • Ascension Leadership Academy, the Home's fully accredited AdvancED school, meets the educational needs of both residents and private-pay students from the community who are attracted by the small class size and personalized attention of the school.

  • Family Bridges is Intensive In-Home Services aimed at both family preservation and reunification under the oversight of DHR.
