Living River

Living River is the future camp and conference center for the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley. Situated on 440 acres on the Cahaba River, the property includes natural wetlands, wooded ridges, and stands of ancient hardwood timber and tall pines.

Living River will eventually include an adult conference center, a youth camp with cabins and indoor and outdoor recreation areas, and cabins for retreats for clergy and church professionals. There will be canoe landings, hiking trails, a challenge course, a swimming pool, an amphitheater, a chapel and a labyrinth. An environmental camp where visitors and students can learn to become good stewards of creation is also planned. Currently in the fundraising stage, construction is expected to begin in 2008.

As the Presbyterian (USA) church geographically closest to the camp, Montevallo Presbyterian Church is very much part of this project. Our church hosts canoe trips on the river for members, friends, and students. We also support Living River financially through benevolence giving.

Montevallo Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, Synod of the Living Waters, Presbyterian Church (USA).
